HONDA BF2.3
Honda’s BF2.3 is one of the world’s lightest four-stroke outboards, weighing under 30 pounds — light enough to rival two-stroke 2HP engines and electric motors, but without the battery. Despite that light weight, it delivers 15% more power than its predecessor and a 12% larger internal fuel tank, giving about an hour of run time at full throttle. A front-mounted carrying handle, fold-down tiller, and single-unit removable fuel tank make it especially easy to transport and install on small boats, dinghies, and car-toppers.
Controls are designed for precision and comfort, including a twist-grip throttle with tensioner, 360° swivel steering for tight-space maneuverability, adjustable steering friction, and four manual trim settings. A centrifugal clutch smooths out idle and automatically engages the prop above idle speed, functioning like a neutral gear.
On the reliability side, the BF2.3 features a maintenance-free transistor ignition for easy starting, an air-cooled engine that eliminates water pump concerns, and convenient oil fill/drain and carburetor draining for storage. It’s backed by Honda’s transferable, non-declining True 5 Warranty and Honda’s multi-layered corrosion protection system, plus practical touches like dual lockable transom clamps and a built-in keeper for spare cotter and shear pins.
